HFS coaches doing us proud at the IHF Global Coaching Clinic 2011!

Our second and final part of the IHF Global Coaching Clinic 2011 is being held in Muscat, Oman and once again we would like to express our gratitude to the Handball Federation of Singapore (HFS) for giving us this opportunity to represent the nation in this prestigious course. Before embarking on this final part of the course, we were given assignments by our IHF lecturers which they will form a panel to further assess us coaches. We were supposed to prepare and plan out a detailed lesson plan for the age group that we are coaching and also carry out the session and record it on tape.
The experience and the knowledge gained in our first part of the course helped us significantly in our preparation for this assignment.

The second part of the course consisted of many interesting topics such as Injury prevention in handball, mental toughness, conditioning exercises and many more. Goalkeeper legend Mr Abaz Arsnalagic, gold medallist at the 1972 Olympic games was there for 2 days to conduct training and techniques on goalkeeping. Mr Abaz was very professional and he covered everything there is about goalkeeping and even the minor details. We found that segment very informative and interesting as many courses do not cover goalkeeping segment that excessively and to be taught by a goalkeeping legend is such a great honour for us.
We were also introduced to various fun activities to add on during our training session and we felt that it is vital to conduct such games to inspire our players during training. We also shared our knowledge on this topic with our fellow participants and it was great learning new activities from coaches around the world. Our IHF mentor, Mr Zoltan Marczinka was excellent throughout the entire course, he assisted us in any way he could and also gave us a detailed review of our assignment and also shared tips on how to further promote the sport back in our country. Both of us successfully completed the requirements of this course and were presented with the certificate of achievement by IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa. Our 6 days in Oman has been a delightful one and not forgetting the ever so excellent hospitality from the Oman Handball Federation. We would like to thank all the IHF lectures and our fellow participants for making this course a successful one.

Many thanks to the Handball Federation of Singapore (HFS) for giving us such a great opportunity to learn and further develop our knowledge in this sport. We hope more local coaches get the opportunity to attend such a high level clinic. With the knowledge and experience we most certainly look forward to further develop the sport in Singapore.

Warmest regards,
HFS Coach Muhammad Isa Abdul Haleem
HFS Coach Alif Hafiz Masnor.
