2012 LIST OF PROHIBITED SUBSTANCES AND METHODS

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has published the List of Prohibited Substances and Methods for 2012 and it will come into effect on 1 January 2012. Highlights of the key changes to the 2012 Prohibited List are listed below for your information.


Prohibited Substances

2 S3: Beta-2 Agonists

Formoterol by inhalation (maximum therapeutic dose of 36 micrograms over 24 hours) is no longer prohibited in addition to the existing Salbutamol (maximum 160http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif0 micrograms over 24 hours) and Salmeterol when taken by inhalation. It will be considered an Adverse Analytical Finding if more than 30 ng/mL of Formoterol is detected in urine unless the athlete proves, through a controlled pharmacokinetic study, that the abnormal result was the consequence of the use of the stated therapeutic inhaled dose.

3 S5: Diuretics and Other Masking Agents

Local application of Felypressin in dental anaesthesia has been included as not prohibited.
