The Singapore University Games 2011 Handball Men and Women competition was held over 3 days in September 2011 where the 4 local universities pit their skills and cheers against each other to determine the best team.
The teamNUS Handball Men Varsity Team was formed a mere 2 months before SUniG handball started. Most members of the team were recruited from the NUS Halls and these players have already been competing in various inter-hall handball competitions. Although most of them only started to get to know each other when the team was formed, they bonded well through trainings and friendly games with other institutions. Within 2 months of intensive training under the guidance of an experienced coach, the boys managed to emerge victorious from all 3 SUniG matches against SIM, SMU and NTU. The scores are:
NUS vs SIM: 28 - 10
NUS vs SMU: 23 - 19
NUS vs NTU: 32 – 20
The teamNUS Handball Women Varsity team beat SIM and SMU in SUniG and faced NTU in the final round. It was a fierce and exciting match with back to back scores and goals throughout, resulting with NTU claiming victory with just 2 goals more than NUS. The scores of the matches are:
NUS vs SIM: 37 - 7
NUS vs SMU: 24 - 5
NUS vs NTU: 14 – 16
