Despite the shortfall of merely 3 points to the local Handball expat team - A Team with a score of 18-15 in the friendly battle on 9th July 2010, Friday at Jurong West Sports Hall, our Handball Boys Team had gained a wonderful experience in their Handball journey. As part of developing and strengthening the boys, they will be taking part in their first international tournament in Hong Kong from 12th to 19th July 2010.
DY CEO of SYOGOC, Mr Francis Chong was invited to watch the match and gave a few words of encouragement after the match. He handed over the Team Jersey, Captain Band and the Singapore Flag to the team's Vice-Captain and Captain respectively. Heavy dosage of morale can be seen by the team's frequent cheers and also the presence of the boy's family members. Sharing the thoughts, parents of the team's Captain, Ervin Sethi said that it was a very good opportunity at such timing to send the boys overseas for tournament to prepare them for the up and coming Youth Olympic Games.
While everyone's ultimate goal in a tournament is winning, the spirit and the learning process is much more important for the young team to grow stronger and tougher. Let us give our best wishes for the boys while they are fighting a real battle in Hong Kong. GOOD LUCK BOYS!
'... it's not how high you are, but how low you come from ...'
