IHF Global Coaching Clinic 2011 QATAR
We would like to thank the Handball Federation of Singapore and Team Axis Pte Ltd for the golden opportunity to take part in the Global Coaching Course 2011 organised by the International Handball Federation. This course consists of 2 parts and we have just returned from the first segment of the course in Qatar from the 11th to 18th May 2011.
From the first part of the course, we were exposed to the trends and development of the handball game, elaborated lessons on attack & defence formations, training for specific positions and combined exercises. Guest lecturers from France also shared the French method of physical & conditioning training as well as the French Model defence system where they focused on defending offensively. It was a great experience hearing from a world cup winning coach on his systems and methods used.
On top of that, we went through assessments by the lecturers to test our understanding of the course. Apart from being active, we were tasked and assessed on our detailed personal match observation and statistics from the ongoing IHF Super Globe Qatar 2011 competition with top teams from Spain, Brazil, Germany, Qatar, Lebanon, Australia and Egypt. We are very fortunate to be able to observe this highest level of handball at club level.
Our 10 day stint in Qatar has been a wonderful one with excellent hospitality from the Qatar Handball Federation. We are blessed to have experienced and knowledgeable lecturers from IHF who are very generous in sharing their knowledge and expertise. We are also humbled to share this experience and delighted to learn from fellow coaches from UAE, Qatar, Iran, Oman, Bahrain and Hong Kong, just to name a few, and not only we learnt the top level of handball, we also bonded together as one during our stay there and that is really amazing as we all come from different background and nationality.
We definitely look forward to the continuation of the course which will be held in Oman from the 6th to 11th July 2011.
